About Daniel Akaoui
Daniel Akaoui is a Swiss drummer based in London since late 2012. He started playing the drums when he was 12 years old and began gigging and recording with rock and punk bands at the age of 15. Initially a self-taught drummer, Daniel soon started taking private lessons with Romano Nardelli (Altrisuonidrumschool) and later on with legendary Italian educator Walter Calloni (L’Arte Della Batteria).
Since moving to London, Daniel has obtained a diploma in Popular Music Performance from Tech Music School and a Bachelor of Music degree in Popular Music Performance with first class honours from The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance (ICMP). Daniel has also studied with great drummers and percussionists such as Benny Greb, Gabor Dornyei, Claus Hessler, Darren Ashford, Chuck Sabo, Justin Scott, Neil Martin, Toby Goodman and Fergus Gerrand.
Daniel is very active in London’s music scene and has been gigging regularly with up-coming pop, rock and soul artists and bands. Besides working as side musician in various original projects and playing function gigs, Daniel is a full-time band member of the alternative-rock band Reckless Jacks and R&B/Fusion band Viridiann.
His most notable performances include Ronnie Scott’s, BBC Radio Kent, O2 Academy Islington, Bar Fly, Nambucca, andThe Borderline in London, the Bus Palladium and Supersonic in Paris, “Fete de la Musique” in Neuchatel and Lausanne, and “Palco Ai Giovani” music festival in Lugano.
Daniel’s most notable recording credits include three singles (2017) with Reckless Jacks, produced by Grammy Award winning producer and mixer Jim Lowe (Stereophonics).
Other recording and performance credits include: Viridiann, Cesare Augusto Giorgini, 2 Tone Red, Matt & The Cookies, Mattia de Luca, Estèe Blu, Jazz Mino, Alia, Silence Is Chaos, Andrew’s Tie, Hopeless Child, Evil on Hell, Re-Count, Beyond The Shape, Macabre Structure.
Daniel is also an experienced drum teacher, with nine years of experience working for Altrisuoni Drum School in Switzerland and the Gotthard Drum School in London.
