Oliver Stanley – Singing Lessons & Acting Lessons
About Oliver Stanley
Oliver is one of our resident singing teachers offering extensive vocal coaching and voice training, as well as acting lessons and coaching for our students.
I am a singing and acting coach and a licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music, currently on the Vocal Faculty at The BCME as well providing singing and choral cover at City Academy in London. I am passionate about helping young people and adults achieve their potential as performers.
Styles taught include jazz, musical theatre, pop, rock, classical and folk but this will depend entirely on the needs of each student. Yet I am very happy to help students work towards grades with ABRSM, LAMDA or Trinity if they wish to, as well as providing course specific vocal support to students who are currently enrolled on Further or Higher Education programmes.
Subsequently, I have a relaxed teaching style in line with the most up to date research on music teaching, but I do not adhere to one particular school of thought in my approach. Instead, I tailor my lessons to suit the needs of the individual or group. By getting to know my students and their requirements, a singing lesson style will emerge that suits their learning speed and personal goals.
As I am also a working actor and singer, I aim to help young people understand the realities of the performing arts industry, which is especially useful for those interested in pursuing a career in this sector. However, regardless of which vocational level I am teaching, my singing lessons will always cover seven core areas.
1. Vocal health (looking after your voice)
2. Support (effective physicality and breathing)
3. Musicality (staying true to the music)
4. Versatility (enjoying and embracing different styles)
5. Confidence (overcoming setbacks)
6. Enjoyment (learning to love singing!)
7. Progress (acknowledging your achievements)
